Lindenhurst Business Expo

The 11th Annual Business Expo was conducted by the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce at the Chateau La Mer on February 13, 2008.

Yours truly was there to recruit new members to our local civic associatons. I was also distributing Vial of Life kits.

If you need a Vial of Life kit, just stop by our Real Estate office and pick one up. We were recognized by the Long Island Board of Realtors for the distribution of these kits to the local Seniors. The kit consists of a form that you list all your pertinent medical information on, and a magnet to keep it on the refrigerator. In case of an emergency, the EMTs will know to check your refrigerator for this info, which will expedite your care.

West Gates PARP Program

I shared with Mrs. Maronski's Fourth Grade class Vivian Farrell's book Robert's Tall Friend: A Story of the Fire Island Lighthouse. The author lives in the neighborhood the school serves. I also distributed bookmarks (one is being held up by the student) to the class.
The Parents As Reading Partners program (PARP) invites community members to read to the students in the different classes. This was my third year of reading to a class at the school.

Local Author- Vivian Farrell-Logan

I paid a visit to local Lindenhurst author, Vivian Farrell-Logan to get a copy of her book "Robert's Tall Friend: A Story of the Fire Island Lighthouse" to read to the Fourth graders at West Gates Elementary School. The book is currently Town of Babylon, NY Official Children's Book and Suffolk County, NY Official Book with legislation pending in Albany for the Offficial Book of NY State for grades 3,4,5,6.

Vivian is seen here in her studio in costume with the props for her latest book "Amelia, My Courageous Sister", that was co-authored by Muriel Earhart Morrissey and Carol Osbourne. She is posing as Amelia Earhart's younger sister Muriel who is now 98 years old. She shares glimpses of her life with her sister and explains the mystery of her disappearance.

For more information, or to purchase a copies of her book, or for information about her performances see her website: www.VivianFarrell.com.

What a great time everyone had at the Country Line Dancing Fundraiser for the Lindenhurst Youth Center Friday night. Everyone got to sample the delicious cuisine of Tom Lorch's wonderful new restaurant in town "The Lantern".
Many local merchants donated prizes to add to the excitement. Elected officials Wayne Horsley, Tom Brennan, and Maryann Weckerle also were there to show their support.
