Island Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble


The Island Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble performed Christmas Music at the Tanner Park Senior Center to the delight of all that attended. The Seniors from all the Town of Babylon Senior Centers enjoyed the concert immensely. Meridale Park Civic Association Meeting

John Lisi, President of the Joint Civics Association of Lindenhurst spoke at the recent Meridale Park Civic Association meeting regarding the upcoming January 13, 2010, open meeting for Lindenhurst Village residents. It will be held at the Edward Bower School on Montauk Highway at 7pm. Operation Christmas Stocking "Stuffers"


The Lindenhurst High School JrROTC cadets, under the direction of Executive Officer Nicole Connors filled stockings with donated goodies for the troops serving overseas for Operation Christmas Stocking. Many thanks to all those who contributed so generously to this worthy cause, especially to the merchants at the AT&T Wireless Store, in Lindenhurst, F&D Supply Co., in Copiague, Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, in Massapequa Park, and Wescott Group Realty, in Babylon, who served as drop off points for donations, and the Lindenhurst Eye Surgeons.

Lindenhurst High School MCJrROTC stuffs stockings for Operation Christmas Stocking


The Lindenhurst High School JrMROTC cadets with 1st Lt. Mike Frasca as their CO have again volunteered to be elves amd stuff stockings with the donations from our local residents to ship to our military personnel overseas. Over the past few years Major Sureau's cadets have assisted in this project that boosts the morale of our troops overseas at holiday time.

The members of the Tanner Park Senior Center are getting ready to assist in Operation Christmas Stocking which sends Christmas stockings to the military serving overseas to boost their morale. Red Cross Road Rally







Tanner Park hosted the first Red Cross Road Rally from Yapank. The Copiague Chamber of Commerce was on hand for all the fun at this free event. There was something for everyone with the show cars on display and the bands playing throughout the day. There were amusements for the kids and local merchants on display.

Cedar Beach Car Show

The Copiague Chamber of Commerce received a plaque of appreciation from Big Al of Street Wheelz at their annual Car Show at Cedar Beach. It was a gorgeous day and everyone had a wonderful time.

Josphine and Rene Rospar's Farewell Dinner

President of the Lindenhurst Joint Civic Association, Josephine Rospar was recently honored for all her civic devotion by Lindenhurst Village officials at her going away party with many of her friends at the SeaHaven Restaurant in Lindenhurst. Gary US Bonds


Town of Babylon's own Gary US Bonds (he's from Wheatly Heights) sang to the crowd, that included many of his neighbors, at Copiague's Tanner Park.
It was the last concert of the 2009 season. I'm looking forward to 2010.

Babylon to the Beaches

The Wounded Warrior Ride from Babylon Town Hall to Cedar Beach recently took place.

Local civic associations distributed flags from the town to give to the citizens showing their support for our veterans.

The Beatle tribute band Strawberry Fields played to a packed crowd, not only on land, but boat too, at Tanner Park. They have been back by popular demand every year and what a marvelous performance it was.

The Brooklyn crowd was at Tanner Park for the Kenny Vance and the Planetones performance.

The former "Jay and the Americans" singer has quite a devoted following in this area, and it was easy to see why. This group deserved the standing ovations it received.

North Lindenhurst Pool Grand Re-opening




Jack and Janet Hunsucker of the North Lindenhurst Civic Association were there to greet local officials at the grand reopening of the totally refurbished North Lindenhurst pool.

Tanner Park 2009 Inaugural Concert

The first concert at Tanner Park this year was a Doo-Wop show th kick off another exciting season of concerts sponsored by the Town of Babylon.

Lindenhurst Joint Civics Adopt-a-Window Program

The Lindenhurst Joint Civics Association has "adopted" windows of empty storefronts in town and put in artwork to improve the shopping areas visually.

Helping out in this effort is Emily Daub and her Mom Donna. Donna as a PTA member secured donated artworks from the students at the William Rall Elementary School which were put on display with Emily's assistance.

Thanks for the help in making Lindenhurst look beautiful.

North Lindenhurst Civic Association 2009 Scholarship Winners

The North Lindenhurst Civic Association awarded scholarships to deserving students who intend to further their education after graduation from High School.

Kaary's Jewelery Grand Opening

The Copiague Chamber of Commerce celebrated another new business opening up in Copiague at 1700 Great Neck Road. That's that beautiful new building in town.

Kaary is the young daughter of the owner who is pictured here with her family and the Copiague Chamber of Commerce officials who wish them well.

We Work For You

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy conducted a "We Work For You" workshop for residents and community leaders at the Robert Moses Junior High in North Babylon.

Town of Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone introduced Steve Levy and some of the Suffolk County Legislators, such as DuWayne Gregory, at my left, attended.

Grand Opening of Crazy Al's

Crazy Al's Clothing Warehouse just opened at 1207 Sunrise Highway, Copiague. It is across the street from the Fruit Tree next to the Gulf Station.

It is worth the trip. They have some unbelievable prices and quite a selection of clothes. Stop down and meet Al and "the Crazyettes"!

Copiague Chamber of Commerce and Copiague Kiwanias Joint Meeting

Town of Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone addressed the annual joint meeting of the Copiague Chamber of Commerce and Copiague Kiwanias Club held at Goccia D'Oro in Lindenhurst.

Steve went over the Town of Babylon $15,000 down payment assistance program for first time home buyers and programs in place for Babylon Town homeowners for "going green".

Grand Opening of Enchilada Alegre

The Copiague Chamber of Commerce was on hand for the ribbon cutting at the Grand Opening at Enchilada Alegre, at 47 Montauk Highway in Copiague, not far from the Amityville border.

The group enjoyed some of the delicious appetizers such as Salbutes, Empanadas, Nachos Mestizos and Hot Wings.

It is right around the corner from the Library. Be sure to stop by.

Lindenhurst Annual Legislators Breakfast

The Lindenhurst PTA held their annual Legislators Breakfast at the Lindenhurst High School. It is when the community has the opportunity to ask the elected representatives their education related questions.

No Request Band Performance

The No Request Band played at the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition fundraiser at the American Legion Hall in Babylon.

The Babylon office of Prudential Douglas Elliman was one of the sponsors of the event. It was great to see the everyone out partying for a great cause.

Realtor's Breakfast with Terry Watson

The North and South Shore Chapters of the Long Island Board of Realtors held a breakfast meeting at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, which featured national speaker Terry Watson pictured here.

Terry is such a treasure because he is so animated and funny while he covers very current and topical subjects.

Of course he got a standing ovation when finished!

Grand Opening of The Copiague Weekly Office

The Copiague Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Copiague Weekly new offices at the Merrineck Shopping Center.

Owner and Publisher Ralph Soluri was there with his family including his daughter's adorable twin sons, and many local officials including Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Legislators Dwayne Gregory and Wayne Horsley, and TOB Board Member Tony Martinez. That's me between Wayne and Tony!

Delicias Latinas Bakery & Restaurant Grand Opening

The Copiague Chamber of Commerce had a Ribbon Cutting at the brand new Delicias Latinas Bakery and Restaurant at 1700 Great Neck Rd. That is the new building just North of Oak Street. I sampled the fare and brought some back to the office for rave reviews.

Not only is it wonderful treats, the owners are wonderful too! Stop by, you'll be glad you did.
